Abstract
This article discusses the importance of international assessment programs in determining and assessing students' thinking and cognitive potential in biology. The PISA, TIMSS, and PIRLS programs are international assessmentsdesigned to assess students' knowledge of a subject and to determine the knowledge and skills that students have acquired during their school years.
